Wacky Wednesday #11

It *definitely* feels like Spring has sprung around here – in more ways than one!  Temperatures are warmer (love it!), days are longer (love it even more!), and we’re starting to see the classic Texas spring weather in our forecast as well – storms, hail, tornadoes…  While those things are not *typically* a laughing matter, they are to me because the beginning of Texas spring storms seems to coincide with the beginning of the new Dancing with the Stars season each spring!  I’m patiently waiting for the first time they go to commercial, and the first thing we hear is Pete Delkus telling us he’s not going to interrupt Dancing with the Stars unless he has to – then I will know that spring is truly here!  hehehehe

Speaking of Spring, it seems to have hit the middle school crowd HARD.  Now, I can’t tell any specific stories due to privacy laws, but let’s just say I’m seeing some truly silly, wacky, and unexplainable behavior right now.  Luckily, since they’re 13 and 14 year olds, they are still fairly shy about public displays of affection – so at least I’m not seeing too much of *that* kind of spring behavior.  However, everyday there seems to be a moment where I just have to shake my head and laugh because some of the things they say and do are just so random!  Love them, though!

Major progress is being made on our natural light studio!  I think the painting will be done very soon (maybe even tomorrow!) which is a MAJOR step in the right direction!  The other major step will be to rip out the carpet and stain the concrete, which is actually a project that will encompass the majority of our house.  We’re leaving carpet in the bedrooms, but that’s about it.  We have yucky, white, low grade builder’s carpet that seems to keep every. single. hair. from Max’s body.  We go over it with the Dyson all of the time and just can’t seem to get it all out of this stupid carpet.  I’m concerned about it being a health/allergen problem when the baby gets here, so out it must go!  I *love* the stained concrete look and feel it will fit our lifestyle SOOOO much better.  I can’t wait for that project to start (and be completed!)

————————

Speaking of studio plans… if you’re a Twitter follower or Facebook friend, you saw that a couple of weeks ago I taught myself to “knit!”  I put it in quotation marks because it’s the round loom style of knitting which isn’t exactly rocket science, but I’m pretty pleased with myself nonetheless!  I took up this little hobby to not only outfit Arabella with some majorly cute homemade hats, but also to stock our studio with cute, cuddly knit items that can be used in newborn and baby shoots!  I’ve purchased some knit items from the “pros” on Etsy, but I’m excited to be supplementing my stockpile with things I’m making myself!  I’ll post some photos soon when I finish up a couple of projects that I’m currently working on!

————————

Okie dokie… I think that’s all for tonight.  I have about a billion and one projects that I’m working on / thinking about / thinking about thinking about these days!  I’ll be posting more random thoughts soon!

Meet Tommy LaRue! :: Dallas Children’s Photographer

It was so much fun to photograph and play with Mr. Tommy LaRue this morning!  He’s a super precious almost-3-year old with soooo much energy who very obviously adores his Mommy and Daddy!  Check out this adorable face:

He’s all ready for the Easter Bunny, too…

Kisses from Mommy

And we finished the morning playing on the playground:

Thanks so much, E Family, for such a great morning!  Your full gallery will be ready soon!

Bluebonnets Snow Special!

So… I totally wasn’t expecting the snow last weekend.  On Thursday and Friday, I was admiring all of the wildflowers around our area that were getting ready to bud and bloom, and by Sunday they were all dead and gone.  Phooey.  Obviously, that has thrown a wrench in the whole bluebonnet / wildflower sessions for this weekend.  If you signed up for a wildflower session, I’ve sent you an e-mail with a couple of options – go check!

If you haven’t signed up for a session yet, you’re in luck because I’m extending the offer for the months of April and May!  You can book a bluebonnet mini session for any available opening I have in either April or May.  To refresh your memory, here’s the package:

  • Price:  $150
  • Location:  TBA (will be sent out the week of the shoot via e-mail… I have to wait and see where they will pop up!  Likely on the Dallas side of the metroplex)
  • What’s included:  a 30 minute session for you and your immediate family (or just your kiddos if you’d like), 15 finished  images on disc with printing permissions, and (1) 8×10 print of your favorite image!

I’m also going to be offering a full session upgrade, which will include:

  • Full Session (at least an hour of shooting time) for you and your immediate family among wildflowers / bluebonnets
  • All finished images on disc with printing permissions (usually 40+ images)
  • (3) 8x10s of your favorite image(s)

The retail value of this package is $500, but I’ll be offering it for $300 as part of the snow special!

Shoot me an e-mail at deena@deenariley.com if you’d like to schedule your session!
