So… how ya been? I’ve been out of town! I was trying not to say it outright before I left in case some crazy who knew where I lived wanted to come and steal my… dog? cat? I dunno…
Oh! Before I get any further, please pardon this commercial break: Current clients – you only have 2 days left before the holiday ordering deadline! Eep! I know there are still several orders floating out there…
Anyway, my immediate family and I flew out to New Orleans Tuesday night and got back Friday evening – we just went to have a little fun, see the sights, and eat ourselves silly. In my infinite wisdom, I chose to only take my little point-and-shoot camera. It’s a really crummy point-and-shoot camera – the kind that would make people say “she has a photography business?!” So, please excuse the noise-y (not loud, but grainy), point-and-shoot-y-ness of these images!
We stayed in the Sheraton on the edge of the French Quarter on the 49th floor. It was awesome! Here’s our view at night:

And Canal Street, where our hotel was, at night:

Fast forward a bit here (I didn’t take too many share-worthy photos throughout the trip) – Wednesday, we ate and shopped our way through the French Quarter (woohoo!). Thursday, we had our Thanksgiving meal and watch a LOT of football. Friday, we went down to River Road to see a plantation or two. We toured the Nottoway Plantation:

Some details from Nottoway (I got really enamored with light fixtures there…). Of course, flash photography was not allowed in the historic home, so I did the best I could with crummy little point-and-shoot.

Can you see the other lady who brought her nice camera in the background taking pictures too?

So, lesson learned on this shoot: Either A) Get a better point and shoot or B) realize that I love taking photos so much that I just need to suck it up and bring my big camera with me where ever I go. The trip was a blast, though! I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving!
