Ok, Now that that’s done… on with the fun! I realized today that Mikel and I went for a fun spring outing to the Arboretum waaaay back in March and I don’t think we ever shared our photos. That’s right. We. Mikel had his own camera body in hand and was going to town, practicing on some subjects that tend to stay a little more still than 3 year olds. So, I’ll be sharing some of the images in this Wacky Wednesday post. First, one by yours truly:

015————————

Car search update: We went to the State Fair this past Saturday (and if you follow me on twitter or facebook, you saw this amazing gastronomic creation that was Mikel’s lunch). I went with a checklist of cars and took notes on each and every one that they actually had at the Fair. I ended up picking a favorite… *drum roll please*… the 2010 Chevy Equinox! Cute, affordable, has some fun bells and whistles for the price point. I was STOKED! They even had a color that I absolutely loved… mocha steel. Mmmm… mocha…

*snaps out of it*

Sorry. Anyway, love the Equinox – Mikel and I are ready to go to the dealership right then and seal the deal. It turns out there are only 2 Mocha Steel Equinoxes with the trim I want in the entire metroplex, and both of them get sold out from under us before we can get to the dealership. ARGH! I’ve toyed with going to look more seriously at my second place choice, the Nissan Rogue, but I just can’t bring myself to do it – yet. If Chevy doesn’t get it’s act together and get some more here soon, I might just go ahead and check out the Rogue (are you listening Chevy?!).

So, that’s my tale of woe this week. I hope I can get a new car soon! I have a salesman at a dealership near our house with very specific instructions about what I want and to call me when it comes in. We’ll see what happens!

No real adventures in teaching this week, other than I took a personal day last Friday. I had a bunch of stuff to get straightened out for this here business – things like 2010 pricing, client contracts… lots of changes (good changes!) coming in 2010. Things that will help me serve you better! A couple of new product offerings will be coming down the pike as well. So excited to announce all of it, but it will make its appearance on the blog a little closer to the new year!

————————

We’re going to the Stars home opener this weekend. I can’t even tell you how excited I am for it to be hockey season again! LOVE IT! I am total sports nut as it is, though. I’m thinking about taking my camera and snapping some shots – we’ll see if I get anything fun for the next Wacky Wednesday!

Christen :: 2010 Senior Ambassador

Miss Christen and her Mama suggested a park in Mesquite that I had never been to for her shoot. I love that! I am always totally game for trying new locations! This park had a little stream going through it which created a beautiful natural light reflector… and, unfortunately, it was also the breeding ground of perhaps the most aggressive mosquitoes I’ve ever seen. I think Christen did an awesome job ignoring the pests and just looking darn pretty throughout her shoot!

Christen is a twirler with band – she showed off some of her dance moves and ended up posing perfectly in the process!

One last preview for Christen… I just can’t stop looking at this one!

Christen, the rest of your gallery will be ready soon! I hope you didn’t get as bug bitten as we did!

Last Call :: 2009 Openings (and a sneaky peek!)

Howdy, Folks! This is Big… er… no. Sorry that slipped out, but I am stoked about the State Fair of Texas opening today! The only years I missed it were the years I was in college, living in St. Louis. Mikel and I are thinking about making a trip tomorrow morning before our senior shoot! So excited!

Now… down to bidz-ness… because it’s business time…

The following 3 dates are the ONLY dates left on the 2009 calendar. That’s it! (*one exception – pregnant mamas can schedule shoots in December for their newborns!)

  • Sunday, November 8 (afternoon)
  • Saturday, November 21 (morning OR afternoon)
  • Sunday, November 22 (afternoon)

Once those are gone, 2009 is booked (and I have a feeling they’ll be gone soon! I’ve been booking like CRAZY this week!). Please note that those dates do not necessarily guarantee photos in time for Christmas, but I will definitely do my best to get them to you in time!

I am officially opening up the 2010 calendar as of today. I’ll come back from my holiday hiatus on January 9th. January and February will be a great time for 2010 seniors to get in before the rush of the end of the year – having your portraits done will be one less thing to worry about!

And, because posts are more fun with something pretty to look at, a sneak preview of a 2009 holiday card design (more sneaky peeks coming soon!):
