A Fun Poll for a Sunday Evening

Truth: Ever since we got the business up and running, Mikel and I have eyed spots for an official office / natural light studio. Now, we’re still a LONG ways off from getting a place set up, but I was just wondering about your thoughts. Where would you want it to be? Clients would pick up orders, etc. from the office / studio and could possibly have a session there (especially newborn sessions). Just vote – if you choose “other” please specify where in your comments!

Thanks! This is fun to think about and hopefully we’ll get there soon!

OK, So here’s the story…

Tonight, I was feeling inspired to get things done – I’ve cleaned out all 4 of my inboxes (yup, 4!), I cleaned out my Google Reader (which was looming large with a ton of unread posts), I’ve been working on some updates to my website (they’re not live… yet!), and I was going to clean up the blog a bit.

You see, there were all of these posts that were missing images from the great server migration that came towards the beginning of this year. I had finally made peace with the fact that I was never going to go through 6 months of old posts from last summer and fall and re-upload all of the images. So, I decided to delete those posts (it’s done – if you go back to the very first post on this blog, it now tells the sad tale of the server migration).

However, I got a little punchy when I was trying to bust through deleting all of those old posts and accidentally deleted the last 2 months worth of posts. Whoops. So, I’ve done my best to recreate the posts (the images are all there… some of the words are different though).

Now, some of you may be thinking – “Deena, didn’t you have a back up to your blog?” Yes. But I deleted it thinking I wasn’t going to need it… after all, the only time I’ve ever needed it, it hasn’t been useful (the great server migration). Then you may think “Deena, you use Google Reader – why didn’t you just use that to go through the archives of your blog and copy and paste your posts?” Well, I didn’t think of that until about 5 minutes ago when I was just about done doing all of the re-creation.

So, you have a bunch of new/old blog posts below (sorry, Google Reader and other feed reader peeps – I’ve totally filled up your reading lists!). Another bummer to all of this is that the comments are gone as well – if you would like to go back and leave a little repeat comment love, I’d so appreciate it (as would all of the clients and models, I’m sure!).

Now… back to the website updating – pray I don’t delete the whole thing there too!

So Long, Summer!

It’s that time of year again – I’m going back to school tomorrow to teach another batch of 150 students all about American History. This year, however, I’ll be working with 8th graders instead of 11th graders – it should be a fun new adventure! Wish me luck with all of those 13 and 14 year olds! I totally meant to take a few photos of my new classroom, but forgot to lug my camera down that way. Maybe I’ll try to upload a few to my facebook in the next day or two (feel free to friend me!)

What that means to you, my dear readers, is that my shooting schedule is once again reduced down to school year mode – mostly weekends with a few limited spots open for weekday evenings before we lose daylight savings time. If you’ve been following my facebook or twitter, then you know that my shooting schedule is filling up fast. September is spoken for as is October. If you are desperately wanting images for the holidays, I may be able to open up a few Sunday afternoons in either month (the Saturdays are all spoken for…), but I need to hear from you soon! I’m trying not to overcrowd my shooting schedule this fall to make sure everyone gets their galleries and holiday orders in a timely fashion.

I am shooting in the month of November – that will be a perfect time for seniors to get on the schedule! I know I have several seniors that are wondering when would be a good time to get their senior portraits taken – I love the light in November and think it would be great! I just can’t guarantee holiday delivery for November shoots (I’ll try my darnedest though!).

I am taking a little time off in December, but as always, anyone wanting to schedule a newborn shoot is welcome to get on the books – again, just give me a heads up ASAP if you’re thinking of scheduling a late November / December newborn session!

OK… that’s enough brass tacks. Here’s a little more of adorable Nayan to help me send off summer:

Meet Nayan :: Dallas Newborn Photographer

Meet Nayan (rhymes with Brian)! This adorable one is the new son of Molly and Sumeet. He made his entrance into this world a little bit early – ok, several weeks early (his parents were expecting him to arrive this coming week!). But, he arrived happy and healthy, if early, and is a perfect 14 day year old. He wasn’t the least bit sleepy for the shoot – he just wanted to watch everything that was going on!

I’m pretty sure he has a future as a hip hop artist. What do you think? (So. Cute!)

Thanks Molly and Sumeet! It was great to see you (and meet Molly’s parents!) Your gallery will be ready soon1
